Description

With the aid of an old crank-shaft, local clay and a constructed kiln, Private Douglas Marks Fraser (NX40359) of 2/18th Battalion, managed to make toddy pots, so that the few coconut palms in the camp area could be tapped to produce a liquid to fight vitamin deficiency. Due to the workshop run by the men, the camp became proficient at building all the necessities needed by the prisoners.
