Description
An allegorical study for inclusion in a projected publication of drawings and articles of the Australian 8th Division. The artist intended this to be tribute the Australian soldier, who refused to be beaten by the Japanese, even in a prison camp under conditions approaching the indescribable. The name and regimental number on the plinth are purely fictional and do not refer to any particular individual.
