Description
Portrait of Sergeant Francis Noel Lane, NX137966 (N240762), 9 Australian Field Company Royal Australian Engineers (RAE) AIF 11 Division, serving in New Guinea. 'The building of the Bulldog-Wau Road was recognised by General Blamey and General MacArthur as the greatest engineering feat in Australian army history.' (Les Burnell) This drawing was made up in the mountains 10,000 feet above sea level, between Fox's Saddle and Ecclesons Gap around 28.30 miles from Wau. (Les Burnell 2 March 2006)
