Artillery periscope, Hill 210, Korea
Description
An Australian infantryman from 3 Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment at Hill 210, Korea, seen looking through high-powered, long-range artillery binoculars. Hele calls them the machinery a 'periscope'. However, they were in fact powerful binoculars, usually tripod-mounted and frequently used by artillery observers. Two other soldiers are also underneath the camouflage nets.
