Night unloading at Able Green Beach, Balikpapan
Description
A scene on Klandasarn Beach, known for the purpose of landing operations as "Able Green Beach", during the second night of Operation "OBOE TWO". Infantry of 21st Australian Infantry Brigade had made their initial beach assault here. The picture depicts the unloading of heavy machinery, vehicles and men as landing craft of all types disgorge their cargoes onto the beach. Spasmodic shell land mortar fire harassed the beach-head, but little damage was done, Balikpapan.
