Gian Singh (Indian Army)
Description
Depicts a portrait of Gian Singh, taken prisoner by the Japanese at Singapore, a member of the Indian Army, was transported to New Guinea to work for the Japanese. A few of these soldiers were re-captured by our forces and they were a reliable source of information about the enemy. Gian Singh with six others, escaped from the Japanese at Wewak and three of them reached our lines and were being cared for at 104 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, Aitape, New Guinea.
