Return from patrol, HMAS Commonwealth
Description
In this painting the aircraft carrier HMS Ocean is being assisted into No.4 berth pontoon by Royal Australian Navy tug boats on return to HMAS Commonwealth Naval base from patrol. Also visible are the destroyer HMS Newcastle, the Japanese oiler Kosin Maru and the hospital ship HMS Maine. In the foreground are the Army amenities and stores. This is one of 8 scenes painted by the artist of the base following his return from patrol with HMAS Warramunga (I) in late July 1952.
