1917 - Blown up
Description
This image is part of a series of six cartoon style paintings that follow a man from his enlistment through to his discharge from service in the First World War. Titled 'Blown up' the painting shows the subject of the series being thrown into the air by an exploding shell. The 48th Battalion colour patch has also been shattered by the force of the explosion and fragments surround the airborne figure.
