Start of the Piaterapia Trail
Description
This trail leads up a very steep mountain and along a razor back ridge from the 9 Battalion road head on the Numa Numa trail to George, Little George Hills and Arty Ridge where the 9 Battalion saw its first action in this area. A soldier who has just come down the trail waits whilst two others cross the stepping stones. A train is on its way up the trail carrying supplies to the forward dump. The boys make two trips up and down each day. A cook is attending to the fires and another cleans out a dixie. The time is early morning. This trail is a section of the Numa Numa trail and the portion, shown in approximately two hours march from the front line.
