Description

'Chota in the Urdu language means 'little' and the chota monsoon is the week or ten days of rain and high winds which breaks the winter spell of fine weather in the Arakan in January of every year. The runway is nothing more than the levelled clay surface of old paddy fields, so heavy rain very soon makes it quite unserviceable. On this occasion the planes on No. 134 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force were grounded four days. The hills of the Arakan can be seen in the distance, Ratnap, India. Several American aircraft, Republic P-47D Thunderbolts can be seen on the ground.
