Dropping supplies by parachute (Flying Officer Francis Hudson and Pilot Officer William Gerard)
Description
Showing a parachute supply container (Mark V ) being dropped from a Dakota of No. 117 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force over Sandoway, Burma. Flying Officer F.H Hudson is kicking out a container that had jammed in the doorway of the aircraft, the figure on the right is Pilot Officer W.M Gerard. Both are officers of the Royal Australian Air Force serving with the Royal Air Force. The two Sikh soldiers are members of the Royal Indian Army Service Corps who are carried in addition to the normal aircrew of four on supply dropping operations. Open parachutes with supply containers attached may be seen through the open door. Depicts the interior of a transport aircraft with two RAAF aircrew and two Sikh soldiers dropping stores for the British army during the Rangoon campaign.
