Description

Portrait depicting VX5449 Warrant Class 2 Douglas R 'Jock' Taylor, DCM, original member of 2/7th Infantry Battalion, served with the unit through its campaigns in Libya, Greece and Crete. In the fierce fight against Japanese around Buna, Papua, Taylor commanded one of several machine-gun carriers supporting an attack by United States Infantry. Throughout the action, although severely wounded, Talylor displayed outstanding gallantry and leadership which resulted in the award of the DMC.
