Description
The top image is dated 8 January 1942 and was drawn in Beirut. It shows a scene from the 2/3 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, where a surgeon, assistant and anaesthetist (all unidentified) are performing a surgical procedure in an improvised theatre. The bottom image shows an Australian soldier lighting the cigarette of a Lebanese man. Next to them is a monkey, a man playing a drum and a woman.
