Debout, les morts! (Wake the dead)
Description
A German soldier dances through a cemetery with hats on top of wooden crosses. The man is trying to arouse the dead buried in the graveyard. He is possibly holding a tambourine above his head. This work was not published, but was intended for publication in 'Figaro', June 1917. 'Figaro' was a popular French newspaper of the time. Coutin 1987 (130)
