Hedjaz recruiting depot Damascus
Description
This drawing is a view of a recruiting depot in Damascus operated by the Hedjaz Forces, who were allies with the British in Syria during the First World War. The viewer is positioned below street level, a cross section of wall occupies the bottom quarter of the composition. Above this, a long white building is placed in the centre, with shaded figures in a small structure to the left, and a horse and partial view of a large building with a tower to the right. A row of trees sit behind the buildings, with pink hills in the distance.
