Le Hutte, Messines near Ploegsteert Wood
Description
In the foreground are the remnants of a barbed wire fence and immediately behind, a small wagon loaded with logs rests on a rail track. Ruined buildings are in the background. Major Edwin Summerhayes, originally an architect in Perth, Western Australia, served with the 44th Battalion on the Western Front. His battalion rested at Ploegsterrt Wood before the Battle of Messines.
