Description

Sketch of three veterans of the Gallipoli campaign. The figure to the left is an unidentified Turkish veteran, carrying flowers and wearing medals. The central figures are a young sailor helping a veteran. The figure to the is Mr Sam Thompson, wearing the medals he received during the First World War. This work was completed the day after ANZAC Day in 1990 and shows these members of the 75th anniversary pilgrimage to Anzac Cove at the museum on the peninsula. Pugh was appointed official war artist for the 75th Anniversary of the Gallipoli landing at Anzac Cove in 1990.
