Civil Construction Corps is the army behind the army (Cinesound News No. 555)
Description
Extracts from Cinesound News newsreel No. 555. On 12 February 1942 it was decided to turn twenty square miles of virgin country into an aerodrome. In just seventy one days the first plane landed at the completed aerodrome. The work was done by the Civil Construction Corps (CCC). Shows the various machinery and techinques involved. Shows drag-line scoops which can shift five tons of earth in one operation, mechanical trench diggers, bulldozers and horse teams. Also shows the construction of a large hangar.
