Description
The first army wedding in Northwest Australia was held in a typical camp church (119 AGH), built of bush timber with bamboo walls. The bride, SX24677 AANS sister Heather Joan Woodhead was given away by QX48750 Captain Michael Anthony Garrahy, RAA, and was attended by AANS Sister Dickman. The groom was NX56969 Lieutenant Maurice Carmel Timbs and Captain H McManus was Best Man. The nuptial mass and wedding ceremony were performed by Father H J Reid, Senior Chaplain. After the wedding the bride and groom left to spend their honeymoon at Mr Byrns' cattle station 'Tipperary'. Commentary by Jack Davey, Movietone News.
