Air defence exercise at Darwin
Description
In a four day mock air war RAAF bombers and fighters attacked Darwin and the RAAF base which was defended by fighters, missiles and anti-aircraft guns. This item shows airborne troops parachuting from a Caribou aircraft near Darwin; No. 76 Squadron Mirages, Canberra bombers at Tindal Airfield; a visiting RAF Vulcan bomber; simulated shot down burning aircraft with helicopter at crash scene; RAAF nursing sister attending crash victim. Identified personnel: Padre Pat McCormick of Ipswich Qld, Flt Lt Bob Rowley of Brisbane.
