This item features some of the eight RAAF figther pilots serving in South Vietnam with the United States Air Force as Forward Air Controllers, seven of whom are flying North American OV Bronco aircraft and the eighth flying a Cessna 02 Super Skymaster. The Australian FACs belong to 19th Tactical Air Support Squadron of USAF operating in III Corps area. They do not work as a complete unit but are attached to forward operational locations at six different bases scattered throughout the Corps. For the most part Australian FACs work USAF fighter aircraft, on occasions they direct stikes by RAAF Canberra bombers of No. 2 Squadron based at Phan Rang. Identified personnel: F/O Dave Robson of Upper Ferntree Gully, Commander Peter Larrard Senior FAC pilot Vietnam, Flight Lieutenant Ron Slater, Squadron Leader Graham Neil both of Williamtown.
