The crane M20 (Amphibious warfare)
Description
A United States Navy training film. This film features the 20-ton mobile beach salvage crane hauled by a D8 caterpillar tractor; power for the crane is supplied from the tractor winch. The crane is transported to the assault beach by Landing Craft, Mechanised (LCM). The film first illustrates the salvage of a disabled Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP) then flashes back to the transport, assembly and lubrication of the crane. A number of printed down action scenes follow, then a shot of the M20 removing a crashed aircraft from the water's edge.
