9 Mile Quarry, Port Moresby
Description
At time of the coverage being photographed, the quarry was operated by the 35th Australian Employment Company. Weekly output being about two thousand cubic yards. PX50 Lieutenant George Edward Martin, 12 Australian Commander Royal Engineers (Works) was in charge of the quarry and was with the original civil contractor when the quarry first opened in October 1940.
