General Blamey at Wewak
The Commander in Chief General Sir Thomas Blamey CBE KCB CMG DSO ED, accompanied by the 250000 (VX17) General Officer Commanding 6th Australian Division Major-General Jack Edwin Stawell Stevens DSO ED, Deputy Chief of the 33 (VX20308) General Staff Lieutenant General Frank Horton Berryman CB CBE DSO, Military Assistant to Commander in NX70918 (N77980) Chief Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Horwood Dwyer and NX68088 Captain Harold Kingsley Wood Deputy Assistant Director of Public Relations 6th Australian Division, left Wewak airstrip for Maprik. On arrival at 17th Australian Infantry Brigade HQ at Maprik, the Commander in Chief was welcomed by 420451 (SX2889) Brigadier Murray John Moten CBE DSO ED, and conducted an inspection of HQ Area and Brigade Main Dressing Station, where he mingled with many wounded soldiers who had come in from the front.
