Surrender conference at Tempadeong, Borneo
Description
The first four scenes show arrival at Balikpapan by sea of Lieutenant General Teshina, Japanese Commander in the Celebes, and party who were being flown from Balikpapan to Morotai, where they will surrender the Celebes to General Sir Thomas Blamey. Other scenes are of the conference between FX166 Brigadier Frederick George Wood DSO and Rear Admiral Nomiya at Tempadeong, HQ 2/1 Australian Pioneer Battalion, held also on 10 September 1945 and arrival of four hundred Japanese troops under Vice Admiral Kamada at Balikpapan, for surrender. One hundred and eighty of these men were sick.
