5th Bn arrival at base after last patrol DPR/TV/609
Description
Veterans of the 5th Battalion RAR have completed their last operational patrol after twelve months active service in Vietnam and have been relieved by the 7th Battalion RAR. The occasion touched off an unrehearsed ceremony when the battalion band met members of 'B' Company as they returned to unit lines at Nui Dat. Other members of the unit together with members of the newly arrived 7th Battalion lined the route and presented arms as the returning patrol passed. Later the 5th Battalion flag was lowered for the last time. 2nd Lieutenant O'Dea is identified.
