Description
The bar class boom working vessel, HMAS Koala, which has just passed through the boom gate in Darwin Harbour. Three Bar Class vessels were constructed in 1940-1941 at the cockatoo shipyard. They were named HMAS Kangaroo, Karangi and Koala and all three saw service maintaining the boom defences in the Darwin area during the second world war.
