"On the way to the beach. On the east side of this gully was 2nd Div, A.I.F. H.Q. leading from Monash Gully. To get to the beach this way we went through the gap, top left. Those revetted steps, at top, was to help the mules to carry ammunition to the A.I.F artillery at Walker's Ridge. [Photographer's note on reverse of an enlargement of this image].
