Studio portrait probably of 2064 Corporal (Cpl) Lancelot Douglas Nicol, 14th Field Artillery Brigade. A butcher prior to enlisting on 2 September 1915, Cpl Nicol embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Wandilla (A62) on 3 February 1916. He was promoted to Sergeant (Sgt) on 29 September 1917. Sgt Nicol was killed in action in Belgium on 24 October 1917, aged 25 years old.
