Beaufighter crashed on Labuan
Description
This watercolour depicts the wreckage of a Beaufighter aircraft 8-129 Code SK- X crashed on Labuan, Borneo. The aircraft was making a slow speed, steep approach on 16 August 1945 when the port wing dropped and aircraft side-slipped to port. The pilot corrected, but the aircraft stalled. The crew of 93 Squadron, Pilot Warrant Officer J.H. Ellers and Navigator Warrant Officer A.C. Dunn were both injured, but survived.
