Description
Informal group portrait of the nursing staff of HMAT Nestor (A71) outside of the ship's isolation hospital no 4. Identified, first from the left, second row, is Staff Nurse Dora Frances McCormack, Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS). Staff Nurse McCormack enlisted in the AANS in June 1917 and embarked for overseas service in Salonika aboard RMS Mooltan. In Salonika, Staff Nurse McCormack served with 42nd General Hospital and 66th General Hospital until January 1919 when she travelled to the United Kingdom and embarked for Australia aboard HMAT Nestor. Staff Nurse McCormack passed away in a private hospital in 1936, aged 51 years. The other nursing staff in this group portrait have not been further identified.
