Description
Outdoor group portrait of members of the 2nd Australian Field Ambulance, in front of the Great Sphinx. Known to be in the image is 208 Driver (Dvr) Albert Jordan Smith. Dvr Smith served in Egypt, at Gallipoli and in France. He was hospitalized with illness for much of 1916. This included a period from October 1916 to January 1917 at Dartford, England, and it is possible that it was here that he met Iris Aldwich, whom he married in April 1917. He returned to Australia in March 1919.
