A bomb shelter beneath a Japanese jungle hut. Japanese forces occupied Bouganville from April 1942 until the allies advanced to Bougainville Island in late 1943. Combat operations ceased with the surrender of the Japanese forces in 1945. This photograph forms part of a collection relating to the service of NX170731 Gunner Robert Young Harvey, 2 Field Regiment.
