My Father's War: The War Time Artistic Collection of James Loveday 1941-1945 / compiled by Pamela Tomiczek
Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX50527 Corporal James Loveday. The collection consists of a bound collection of artworks produced by Cpl Loveday during his service between 1941 and 1945. Loveday studied art at the Julian Ashton Art School prior to the war and subsequently made a living as a commercial artist. The artworks in this collection show the war in a unique way with humour, satire, bawdiness and sometimes pathos. Many of the artworks were published in military journals, bringing much needed light relief to servicemen and women.
