Description
Collection relating to the Boer War service of 525 Private Henry James McKenzie, Fourth Contingent, Victorian Imperial Bushmen (Australian Imperial Regiment), 1900.
Wallet 1 of 1 - consists of an incomplete letter McKenzie wrote to his sister Maria on 12 May 1900 from the troopship SS Victorian. On the reverse side of each page are sketches by Private McKenzie; one features South African politician Paul Kruger, and the other Victorian troopers in South Africa. The letter includes information on food rations, news from the front, and travel distances covered each day.
