Major General (Maj Gen) Ian Gordon, Head of Mission, United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO) from Australia, presents an Australian Commendation to Major (Maj) Claire Swiderski. Maj Swiderski was the Military Assistant to Maj Gen Ian Gordon. She awarded this commendation for her work in this role during the conflict in 2006 between Israel and Lebanese forces in Southern Lebanon. This is one of a series of photographs relating to Maj Gen Ian Gordon AO who retired from the Australian Army in 2009. Maj Gen Gordon had a long and distinguished career culminating as Deputy Chief of Army (2004-2006) and Head of Mission (Chief of Staff) of UNTSO (2006-2008).
