Description

Studio portrait of three Australian soldiers, probably of the 7th Battalion. Identified is 3401 Private (Pte) Francis George Le Couilliard, 7th Battalion, a farmer of Cowangie, Victoria (formerly of Jersey, Channel Islands). Pte Le Couilliard was later wounded on the Western Front and invalided to hospital in England to recuperate from gun shot wounds to the neck and shoulder. He later was posted to training battalions following release from hospital. He returned to Australia and was discharged medically unfit due to his wounds on 3/11/1919.
