Service medal awarded to Thomas Patrick Green, born 4 July 1909 at Gosforth, Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. Green was the eldest child of James and Edith and moved to Australia in the late 1920s where he worked on farms in the western districts of Victoria. He returned to England and married Grace in 1932 and came back to Australia with his young family in 1937.
He joined the Commonwealth Military Forces in 1939 (service number N26115) attaining the rank of sergeant-major, before enlisted in the AIF at Strathfield, NSW on 18 June 1942 under service number NX115135. Green was commissioned an officer and saw service in the Australian Army Service Corps in the Pacific, supervising motor transport. He was discharged on 21 December 1945.
