Collection relating to Pte Leslie Clift Foster (41), 2 Battalion
Description
Mounted studio portrait of 41 Private (Pte) Leslie Clift Foster. A clerk from Maitland, NSW, Pte Foster enlisted on 31 August 1914 and embarked with the 2nd Battalion, A Company, aboard HMAT Suffolk (A23) in October. Pte Foster's battalion took part in the Gallipoli landing on 25 April 1915 as part of the second and third waves. Pte Foster was wounded during the landing and later evacuated to England before returning to Australia in March 1916 where he was discharged.
