Lillywhite, Harry Edgar (Shipwright, b.1899 - d.1941)
Collection of documents relating to the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy service of Harry Edgar "Pete" Lillywhite, a shipwright, HMAS Sydney (II). Collection consists of his indenture with the Royal Navy at age 15 (dated 1914); Will and Testament (dated 1930); telegram to his wife, Ellen Lillywhite, informing her of his status of "Missing in Action" as a result of the disappearance of HMAS Sydney (II), dated 26 November 1941; copy of Commander in Chief's signal to HMAS Sydney regarding action in the Mediterranean, dated 9 January 1941; telegram to Lillywhite's wife Ellen informing her of his arrival back home dated February 1941; hand typed acccount of the HMAS Sydney's action against the Italian cruiser "Bartolomeo Colleoni" written by the Sydney's commander Captain John Collins; and a black and white photographic reproduction of Lillywhite in uniform.
