Private (Pte) Mohammed Abdur Rahman, 6 Platoon, B Coy, 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR) on border patrol as part of Operation Tanager. Pte Rahman, a section gunner, is armed with a light support weapon. Pte Rahman was born in Bangladesh. After migrating to Australian he enlisted in the 5th/6th Royal Victoria, Australian Defence Force Reserve in 1998. The following year he signed up for fulltime service and transferred to the 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (6RAR). He served in East Timor as part of the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET). During his service Rahman attained the rank of Lance Corporal.
