Description
SX4357 Private (Pte) Edward Henry Goreham, ex HQ Guard Battalion, (back row, left, wearing a shoulder title on his collar, an army hat and plain jacket) with a group of unidentified soldiers and including an indigenous serviceman. Pte Goreham joined the Australian Army on 3 June 1940 at Keswick, South Australia, and discharged 17 January 1942. He served with the 2/27 Battalion in the Middle-East. The donor advised that on his return from the Middle-East he was diagnosed with shell-shock, and was required to wear a plain blue army issue uniform to signify he was not able to be on active service. After much criticism, the wearing of this plain blue uniform was stopped.
