Karl Goetz satirical medallion : The sleepwalkers at Gallipoli
Description
Bonze satirical medallion. Obverse: A kneeling French soldier and a standing British soldier (Scotsman in kilt and glengarry) holding a ship with funnel and sails, are encicled with the Turkish crescent moon. On the left 'DIE MONDSUCHTIGEN- AUF GALLIPOILI'. Reverse: The soldiers reduced to skeletons near a cemetery with the Turkish star and crescent above and '1915' and '1916' on either side. The maker's initials, K and G are impressed on the edge, beneath 1915 and 1916 respectively.
