Description
Collection relating to 2315 Private (Pte) Frank Jonas Fry, 3 Light Horse Regiment. Comprises an original letter, and accompanying envelope, handwritten by Pte Fry to his sister Miss Fanny Fry in Gawler, South Australia. The letter is dated 30 March 1918, and written from Port Said, Egypt, whilst Pte Fry was in 14th Australian General Hospital recoving from 'maleria fever'. Pte Fry tells his sister he is sending his letter via one of his friends who is returning to Australia, and that it gives him the chance to write openly to her about some of the atrocities of war, as it won't be censored. Also included is a typed transcript of the letter.
