Description
Diary entries relating to the First World War service of Percy Wellesley Chapman, 55th Battalion. These descriptive entries date from 1 July 1915 to 30 June 1916, and cover Chapman's voyage from Australia to Egypt; time spent at Gallipoli and the evacuation from the Peninsula; embarkation to France, including mention of his onboard pet chameleon, Cammy; original poetry; and his impressions of Marseilles upon arriving in France. These copies were made by the Australian War Memorial in 1927.
