The older women, who is first in line carries the larger number of items, while the young boy carries nothing. On the far right, watching the family are two Australian service men wearing uniforms (shorts and slouch hats). They carry their own equipment including backpacks and rifles.

The second row shows a man in a civilian suit riding a bicycle towing behind him a woman on roller skates and a cart containing packages and with a small child riding on top. The woman is wearing a dress and hat and is carrying numerous parcels under her arms and in her hands. There are two boys who are pushing the cart from behind. This scene is watched from the footpath by a man wearing a civilian suit and hat.
