Description
Turkish Cavalry Trooper's Sword and Scabbard. The hilt is a sheet steel guard with turned edges and is pierced with a crescent moon and star. The grips are dark brown checkered bakelite held to the tang by two rivets. The curved pipe backed blade is single edged with a double edge spear point. The ricasso is stamped with a Turkish Toughera denoting a ruler's mark, a serial number 10389 (arabic numerals) and what is believed to be arabic for Carl Eickhorn over the date 1325 (1907). The steel scabbard is covered with canvas and has a leather reinforced chape. It has a fixed strap ring on a band with a square loop at the back 95 mm from the throat.
