Description
Oakes' typescript account of the defence of Malaya and Singapore Island, from the arrival in 1941 through the battles (Gemas, Nithsdale,) surrender to the Japanese, treatment as POW (prisoner of war) including Oakes time with "H" Force work party and repatriation. Throughout the account Oakes mentions a variety of Australian, British and Indian units and individual officers. There is an introduction by Lieutenant Colonel CGW Anderson, VC, MC, and hand drawn coloured maps.
