NCOs field grey woollen Waffenrock jacket : Fussartillerie-Regiment Nr 10, German Army
German Army Foot Artillery NCO's private purchase M.1910 Pattern field grey woollen Waffenrock jacket. This single breasted jacket has a black stand collar with scarlet edging and a single wide band of NCO's gold bullion wire embroidered braid. The front opening has scarlet edging, and is fastened by eight plain silver coloured metal alloy buttons. A pocket with a flap that slopes downward from the front to the back, has been let into the jacket on both hips. Scarlet edging has been applied to the top of the black three-button Brandenburg cuffs, which have a single wide band of NCO's gold bullion wire embroidered braid that matches the collar. The red crossed exploding shells badge of the type worn by foot artillery units has been sewn onto the yellow shoulder straps above the regimental number '10', which has been embroidered in red and stuck or stitched down. The skirt at the back of the jacket is 'slashed', with scarlet edging, and is flanked on both sides by three buttons. The maker's label is sewn inside the top of the back of the jacket, which is lined with olive green polished cotton. The sleeves are lined with blue and black striped polished cotton. A pocket with a slit opening has been let into the lining of the left breast.
Worn during World War One by a Fahnrich or Unteroffizier of the Niedersachsisches Fussartillerie-Regiment Nr 10, German Army.
