30 April 1910. The Great Australian Bight. The second class protected cruiser HMS Challenger in heavy weather in the Great Australian Bight. The photograph was taken from the main top of HMS Powerful as both ships were heading for Fremantle following a visit to Tasmania. Shortly after this picture was taken the vessels were forced to heave-to while damage was repaired. (Naval Historical Collection)
